how to make a winter session perfect

I know the winter is not as favorable than the summer when it comes to couple’s sessions, weddings, etc. I know the summer months are warm and normally have golden nights filled with sun and beautiful green hills. DO NOT. I repeat, do not let this stop you from booking a winter session. Want to know how to make a winter session perfect? Lemme tell you.

an in-home session

okay, in-home sessions are some of my most favorite sessions because they’re so cozy. If you want an intimate, cozy session in the comfort of your own home (or a beautiful AirBnb) then this is your type of session. You don’t have to go outside. You don’t even have to leave your house! You get to chill in your bed, lounge around on the couch, and hang out in the kitchen. You can make some food together or have a glass of wine or coffee. This is a fantastic session for winter if you don’t want to face the cold.

a botanical garden

botanical gardens are so trendy for a couples session. if you love all the green or love plants and flowers, this may just be your ideal location. They offer a bit of a unique location and are perfect for the colder weather. They’re normally temp regulated to keep all the beautiful plants from dying so you don’t have to worry about it being cold. If you know anything about me, you know I’m a sucker for plants. I have about 40 plants and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. So if you book a session at a botanical garden, I’m going to be just a little more excited because of the location.

blankets & layers

Okay, so this isn’t a location option. BUT. This is a great way to still have an outdoor session comfortably. People dread getting cold or feeling numb during their session. The key to outdoor sessions is to wear layers or bring a blanket to get cozy. Nothing is more romantic than wrapping up in a blanket and telling each other how much you love each other while you’re all cozy in the blanket. Vests, coats, boots, jackets, beanies, scarves, etc. You can accessorize perfectly in the winter and still look fantastic. Yes, it may look a little drab outside to you but that’s before I work my magic.
